The Sidney/North Saanich RCMP say a shotgun was among the weapons seized from a Sidney teen’s home earlier this week.
The 18-year-old man was living in the community after being released from custody, and had court orders not to possess weapons for a previous offense.
Mounties say they received a tip that the teen was possessing weapons at his home in Sidney. On Tuesday, officers went to the teen’s home and found several weapons inside.
“Among the seized items were a shotgun with ammunition, an extendable baton and bear spray,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé in a release Thursday.
“All items were possessed in contravention of court ordered conditions that were less than a week old and police are also now forwarding new charges related to unauthorized possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm,” said Bérubé.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
Police say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP at 250-656-3931.
