RCMP seeking suspect who brandished weapon, demanded money during robbery of Cumberland business

The Comox Valley RCMP is looking for a suspect after a late-night robbery at a business in Cumberland.

Police say that on October 21, 2021, at approximately 11 p.m. officers responded to a business in the 2700-block of Dunsmuir Avenue in Cumberland for a report of a robbery.

Officers were told that a man entered the business, brandished what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money.

The suspect then proceeded to flee on foot and, despite efforts from RCMP, he was not located.

“The suspect was wearing a black Adidas hoody, black pants, black gloves, and a green face-covering described as a scarf or bandana.” said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP. “Investigators from the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit are in the area again today gathering evidence.” she added. 

A surveillance camera was able to capture an image of the suspect, which can be seen below. Police note that additional images of the man will be released as they become available.
