Port Alberni RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed a crash in Cherry Creek on Saturday afternoon.

Port Alberni RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed a crash in Cherry Creek over the weekend.

A dirt bike and a pickup truck collided on Cherry Creek Road, near Owen Road, at around 3:25 p.m. on March 6.

Cherry Creek Fire Department and off-duty medical personnel provided emergency first aid to the operator, who was eventually airlifted to hospital with “serious” injuries.

“The swift actions of the Cherry Creek Fire Department and medical professionals that assisted, have had a positive impact on the injured rider. While he remains in hospital with significant injuries he is expected to recover,” RCMP Sgt. Peter Dionne said in a media release.

Port Alberni RCMP say the driver of the truck remained on scene and continues to cooperate with investigators and that initial information suggests the dirt bike may have crossed into the path of the pickup.

Anyone with dashcam footage of the collision or leading up to the collision, as well as witnesses are being asked to contact the Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424.
