It has been three years since 19-year-old Dolores (Deedee) Brown was found dead and police are once again asking anyone with information about the homicide to come forward.

Brown was last seen in the early hours of July 27, 2015, with a group of friends at a beach on the northeast side of Penelakut Island, near Chemainus. Two days later, she was reported missing to police.

An extensive search was launched by RCMP, search-and-rescue teams and volunteers. On Aug. 19, Brown’s body was discovered near Norway Island by a group of kayakers.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) determined Brown was the victim of foul play and began a murder investigation. For the last three years, investigators have followed on leads and forensically analyzed evidence to try and determine who is responsible for Brown’s death.

“What may seem like small and inconsequential information, may be the missing link in this investigative puzzle. Everything is important,” Cpl John Place said in a statement.

To contact VIIMCU in regards to information about Deedee Brown, call the VIIMCU Information Line at 250‐380-6211. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or online at BCCrimestoppers.com.
