North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are looking for a man who was seen “behaving erratically” before the Maple Mountain wildfire broke out on Wednesday.
Police said they have received reports of a “suspicious” man “who was behaving erratically” in the area of Maple Mountain and Osborne Bay Road between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 8.
Any witnesses who saw the man or any other suspicious activity in the Maple Mountain area at the time of the fire is asked to call North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police are still investigating the cause of the wildfire. As of Friday, the fire was estimated to be 5.50 hectares and is considered active.
