Kix Citton had given up hope after dropping her keys in her Nanaimo backyard Wednesday — but an RCMP K9 came to the rescue.

After frantically searching, and then driving all over town later in the day to places like BCAA, the dealership and the locksmith, she came home to police behind her home.

Nanaimo RCMP members explained that they were training in the area. Citton jokingly suggested for them to help track down her keys.

After finishing up the track they were working on, an officer and K9 Herc returned and in just ten minutes tracked them down.

I am so impressed with how efficiently the handler and Herc searched. I can’t thank them enough for not only finding my keys but also for their dedication, their service and continued commitment to our community, said Citton in a statement.
