The BC RCMP is currently investigating a “suspicious occurrence” that took place near Shawnigan Lake over the weekend.

Police were made aware of the incident on May 10, however, a report suggests that the incident took place on May 8 at approximately 5 p.m.

According to RCMP, they received a complaint from a young woman who was out for a walk by herself at the bottom of Whiskey Point Road in Mill Bay, suggesting that she felt a man was watching her.

She told police that she felt the man, who she felt was watching her, was driving by her slowly in an older silver car.

Police say she was scared enough to hide from the driver, who eventually stopped the vehicle and got out after he was unable to see her.

She described the man as being in his 20s or 30s, having a long beard and wearing a dark-coloured shirt and dark-coloured pants.

The complainant said she was not spoken to by the driver and that she was able to call someone and walk home following the suspicious incident.

The young woman described the man’s vehicle as an older silver car with sun shields in the back window and possible out-of-province plates with a blue edge.

“The Shawnigan Lake RCMP continues to investigate the incident and would like to speak with the owner of the vehicle or anyone who can identify this vehicle or driver,” reads a statement from police.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Shawnigan Lake RCMP at 250-743-5514.
