West Shore RCMP are investigating a bizarre theft of roughly 3,000 feet of rope that was used to line trails at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic sites.

Overnight on April 19, the nylon rope was stolen from multiple locations in the park.

The rope was in place to prevent visitors to the sites from damaging the ecosystem or putting themselves at risk.

The rope is similar to the type commonly used on boats, and is turquoise and blue polyester.

Anyone who sees the rope or has information is asked to contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
