Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for western Vancouver Island, reporting that up to 50 millimetres is expected to fall on the region.

The weather agency says an intense Pacific frontal system is bringing “heavy rain” to the western island that could cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

The rain is forecast to continue throughout the week in places like Tofino and Ucluelet.

Environment Canada warns drivers to use their lights if visibility is reduced and maintain a safe following distance.
