A rainfall warning has been added to yesterday’s wind warning for east Vancouver Island, and the rainfall warning for west Vancouver Island is still in effect.

Environment Canada says east Vancouver Island is expected to get southeast winds of 70 km per hour gusting to 90, and up to 70 mm of rain.

The wind warning is in effect for Courtenay to Campbell River and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.

Environment Canada says with the wind, damage to buildings can be expected, and the high winds may cause tree branches to break.

The rainfall warning is in effect for Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay, with heavy rain expected between Qualicum Beach and Fanny Bay.

Environment Canada says water pooling or flash flooding may occur.

West Vancouver Island is under a rainfall warning.

Up to 100 mm of rain is expected near Zeballos and Tahsis.

The rainfall is expected to last into Monday morning.

Environment Canada says heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and water pooling on roads.
