United Steelworkers, Local 1-1937 has identified the man who died in a fatal logging accident near Holberg on Sunday.
The union says Dylan Montjoy, 45, died while working near the Nahwitti River on northern Vancouver Island, west of Port Hardy.
Montjoy was a Quesnel, B.C. resident and worked as a tree faller for Lemare Lake Logging.
He leaves behind his wife Carmen and six children.
The union says the RCMP have completed a review and WorkSafeBC is continuing its investigation. The union is expected to go to the site with company representatives on Thursday to begin its own investigation.
Details of the logging accident have not been released. The union’s emergency response team is working with the family and employee counselling services are available to those impacted.
The family says a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 11-4 pm at 451 Cameron in Quesnel
