There is no more free Sunday street parking in Victoria.

Starting May 1, pay parking at on-street meters is in effect every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday on-street metered parking will have a four-hour limit with $2 per hour in a 90-minute zone and $1 per hour in other downtown areas. Fees on Monday to Saturday range from $1.50 to $3 per hour with 90-minute to 24-hour time limits.

On-street parking will still be free from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. and all day on holidays. The city’s five parkades will still be free all-day Sunday and holidays, as well as from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday to Saturday. The first hour is always free in the parkades no matter the day.

This Sunday, May 4, 2019, city staff will be handing out information notices and warnings instead of tickets to drivers who have not paid for parking.

Victoria city council voted to eliminate free Sunday parking back in February. The city plans to use the revenue to fund BC Transit passes for Victoria youth in the fall.
