Oceanside RCMP say three people were arrested after after an officer discovered insecure firearms, including a stolen handgun, inside the vehicle.

Three people were arrested after a number of guns were discovered in a vehicle in Qualicum Beach, say police.

According to an Oceanside RCMP press release, one of their officers pulled over a vehicle after the detachment received reports of shots fired from a vehicle in a rural area in Qualicum Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 13.

The occupants of the vehicle, a 43-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man from Qualicum Beach as well as a 44-year-old woman from Nanaimo, were arrested without incident.

Within the vehicle, the officer discovered insecure firearms, including a stolen handgun, the release noted.

Oceanside RCMP then executed a search warrant on the home belonging to two occupants in the vehicle and discovered additional firearms, as well as evidence of a “large scale” and sophisticated drug operation.

Another warrant was then obtained in order for Oceanside RCMP to “gather evidence of offences” under the Cannabis Act and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Officers, as a result of executing the warrant, seized “illicit products” and manufacturing equipment.

The suspects have since been released and will appear in court in December to face a variety of recommended weapon and drug charges, according to the press release.
