Public cautioned about returning to wildfire impacted areas in B.C.

Officials are urging caution as people venture back into areas that were ravaged by wildfires.

Forests that have been charred could present safety hazards such as trees falling over, hot and hard to detect ash pits, unstable terrain and the potential for flash floods.

Although the Cariboo Regional District has lifted evacuation order, some restrictions remain in Kamloops, Southeast and Cariboo fire centres.

The wildfire season this year has destroyed more than nine-thousand 450 square kilometres.
