Province announces 13 COVID related deaths; two in Island Health

Health officials in B.C. are announcing 13 new COVID-related deaths in the province since the previous update.

Two were in Island Health, Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health each had four, there were two in Interior Health, and one in Northern Health.

There are 1,518 new COVID cases in the province, 217 of which are in Island Health.

In Island Health there are 1,544 active cases, 25,554 in the province.

There are 985 COVID-positive people in the hospital and 145 people are in intensive care.

From Jan. 26-Feb. 1, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 25.2 per cent of cases.

From Jan. 19-Feb. 1, they accounted for 31.1 per cent of hospitalizations.

There are no new healthcare facility outbreaks in Island Health.

In the other health authorities, Fraser Health has 424 new confirmed cases, Vancouver Coastal has 217, Interior Health has 431, Northern Health has 227, and there are two new cases in people who normally reside outside Canada.

Since December 2020, the Province has administered 10,842,432 doses of COVID vaccines.
