UPDATE: Power has been restored to those in Metchosin, previous article below:

This Valentine’s Day might be a little dark for some Metchosin residents, thanks to this weekend’s snowstorm.

A fallen tree has taken out power lines, cutting electricity for 1,492 customers.

According to BC Hydro, the power has been out since around 11 a.m. on Sunday and as of 11:30 a.m., crews are on-site working to restore power.

The affected area is just north of Battery Road, aast of Sooke Hanger Drive and south of Sooke Road.

Unlike the day before, there are no other major power outages on the Island. On Saturday, nearly 1,000 Islanders were without power due to the snowstorm.

While the flurries continue for Vancouver Island, DriveBC has removed the travel advisories on four Island highways.
