Over three thousand BC Hydro customers were without power in Gordon Head on Saturday afternoon following a motor vehicle incident.
A commercial truck towing a trailer carrying heavy equipment knocked a tree over onto some power lines, which led to the power outage.
The incident happened near Arbutus Road and Finnerty Road. Saanich Police closed the area off to the public while BC Hydro worked to clear the scene with arborists and restore power to affected customers. The area remained closed as of 3:45 p.m.
According to BC Hydro, by 3 p.m. the number of affected customers was 993.
