UPDATE: BC Hydro says power was restored to more than 2600 customers at around 6:45 p.m.

Downtown Victoria is without power Monday evening after a substation fault, according to BC Hydro. Fifty-three customers in the 500 block of Fisgard Street and the 500 block of Herald Street, as well as 11 customers north of Fort Street, west of Quadra Street, east of Blanshard Street and south of Yates Street, are also affected by the substation fault.

BC Hydro said 2,615 customers have been without power since 5:40 p.m.

The power outage extends south of Summit Avenue, north of Belleville Street, west of Quadra Street and east of Harbour Road. Crews are hoping to arrive to the substation site at around 6:30 p.m.
