Nanaimo RCMP say 24-year-old man is facing numerous charges.

Nanaimo RCMP say a portable debit machine, two firearms, stolen mail, personal IDs and passports were seized when a search warrant was carried out on Tuesday.

Police say the warrant was carried out by officers just after 9 a.m. at a Cranberry Avenue home. Twenty-four-year-old Austin Carlson-McPherson was arrested at the home following the search warrant.

Carlson-McPherson is the subject of upwards of 20 criminal investigations throughout Sooke, Port Renfrew and Duncan, police say.

The debit machine is believed to have been stolen from Port Renfrew.

Nanaimo RCMP says the charges they recommended consist of possession of stolen property including bump keys and keys belonging to Canada Post. The firearms were stolen during a 2019 break and enter in Nanaimo, police said.

Police say Carlson-McPherson is also facing numerous other charges, including break and enter, driving while prohibited, flight from police and thefts.

It brings immense satisfaction to our officers to have this individual off the streets and to interrupt his pattern of criminality throughout Vancouver Island. Additionally, investigators have been able to identify the owners of the property seized and are currently in the process of returning it, said Const. Gary O’Brien, media relations officer with the Nanaimo RCMP.

Carlson-McPherson has been remanded until Sept. 25.
