Port Hardy RCMP officers are looking for a man with an extensive criminal record, and are warning the public to not approach him.
Martin Dubitski is wanted for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon/ammunition contrary to order and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace.
If someone sees Dubitski, they should call 911 and not approach him, as he should be considered armed and dangerous.
There is a heavy police presence on the Gwaʼsala-ʼNakwaxdaʼxw Nations because of the incident Dubitski is considered part of.
Dubitski is believed to be actively evading police, and he is known to travel between Port Hardy and Campbell River but has ties throughout Vancouver Island, police say.
Dubitski is described as a 38-year-old First Nations male, 6’3″ and 230 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and he may have a goatee. Dubitski has several tattoos including on both sides of his neck.
