Victoria police are hoping the public can help catch the suspect of a stolen poppy donation box early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to a business in the 2600-box of Blanshard Street at 3:20 a.m. after a man was seen cutting a security cord and stealing the box.

The business is a Tim Horton’s store.

When another customer confronted the suspect, a weapon was produced and the man threatened the bystander with harm.

The suspect fled with the poppy box.

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian man in his 20s standing 5’8″ tall with a medium build.

The suspect was wearing either a dark baseball hat or a hood, baggy cargo pants with pockets on the side and was carrying a black backpack.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the crime to call Victoria police or Crime Stoppers.
