Police seize handgun after shots fired near Comox Lake dam

Comox Valley RCMP seized a handgun after responding to a report of shots fired near the Comox Lake dam on June 26.

Police said when they responded to the report, they found several people, several vehicles and shell casings on the ground. A handgun was then discovered inside one of the vehicles.

The handgun was seized by police. The Integrated Forensic Identification Section, Police Dog Services, and the Comox Valley RCMP Drug Section are all taking part of the investigation.

“We were able to remove a firearm from our streets thanks to the call from a concerned citizen and the thorough investigation by officers at the scene,” Cpl. Aaron Chamberlin of the Comox Valley RCMP said in a release.
