Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly tried to “ram” three people with his vehicle on Dallas Road early Sunday morning.

According to a press release from the Victoria Police Department, a woman and her two friends were walking in the Dallas Road area at around 4 a.m. Sunday when a man attempted to “ram” into them with his vehicle.

Police say the man then exited his vehicle and allegedly attempted to assault one of the individuals with a weapon, narrowly missing the person.

The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle, which was later spotted at around 5 a.m. in a Colwood neighbourhood, near Royal Roads University, sparking a significant search that involved officers from the West Shore RCMP and Integrated Police Dog Service. However, despite the large search in Colwood, the suspect managed to evade capture and is still on the loose.

“VicPD officers are continuing their search today,” Const. Cam MacIntyre of the Victoria Police Department said in a press release, adding. “Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident, as the suspect and one of the victims were known to each other, and they do not believe that there is a risk to wider public safety.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Victoria Police Department non-emergency line at 250-995-7654.
