A rash of thefts from vehicles and a shed in North Saanich and Sidney on Tuesday night has police warning residents to lock their car doors and outbuildings.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said several people contacted their detachment on Nov. 8 and said that their vehicles had been rummaged through and items had been stolen the previous night.

During the investigation, police determined a large number of unlocked vehicles had been entered by unknown people and loose change was taken. Some contents were also stolen from an unlocked shed.

The thefts occurred near Allbay Road in Sidney and Kittiwake Place in North Saanich.

Police also added that all items of value should be stored properly when they are in vehicles and outbuildings.
