The sound of gunshots rang out in a Parksville neighbourhood early Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the 500 block of Martindale Road around 3:20 a.m. after residents reported hearing three gunshots.
When they arrived, Oceanside RCMP officers found that two abandoned vehicles on a particular property had been hit by rounds from a shotgun in an apparent drive-by shooting.
The property where vehicles were parked is well known to police for property crime and drug related offences.
There were no injuries and it appears that the abandoned vehicles were the only target.
Oceanside RCMP and RCMP Forensic Specialists are still actively investigating.
