Oceanside RCMP say they are looking for a $3,000 mountain bike that was stolen from a Parksville resort.

On Aug. 17 at around 10 p.m., two bikes valued at $3,000 each were stolen from an underground parking garage at a Parksville resort. Police said the bikes were owned by a family visiting Kelowna.

Two suspects allegedly cut the locks and took the two bikes from the rack on the family’s vehicle.

Surveillance footage shows the two suspects entering the underground garage on foot and leaving with the bikes.

On Aug. 18, Oceanside RCMP were called to Bowser for a report of a man in a vehicle acting irrationally. Police said officers found a 28-year-old man, the same one seen wearing a hat in the surveillance footage, was in the vehicle.

The man was allegedly intoxicated and in the rear of the vehicle was one of the bikes that had been stolen, police said.

The man was arrested and the bike was returned to the family.

The other bike has not been found. It is described as a ladies’ black Norco Fluid mountain bike with dual suspension and 29″ tires.

Anyone with information is asked to call Oceanside RCMP at (250) 248-6111 and ask for Const. Swanson.
