An earthquake was recorded this morning roughly 110 kilometres west of Cape Scott Provincial Park

An earthquake struck off the coast of Vancouver Island Wednesday morning.

According to Earthquakes Canada, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded out in the Pacific Ocean about 110 kilometres west of Cape Scott Provincial Park on northern Vancouver Island at 4:40 a.m. PDT.

The quake was struck at a depth of 10-kilometres and was not felt. Earthquakes Canada said there are no reports of damage, and none would be expected.

Meanwhile, data available on the United States Geological Survey’s website shows the earthquake occurred near an area of the ocean called Dellwood Knolls.
