The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) is investigating a homicide in Bowser early Tuesday morning.

Oceanside RCMP says they were contacted just after 4 a.m. on Aug. 31, to assist BC Ambulance after a report there was an injured person in the 5000-block of Thompson Clark Drive West in Bowser.

BC RCMP Sergeant Chris Manseau says in a release upon arrival, officers found a person suffering from serious injuries, and was already being treated by both BC Ambulance and the fire department.

The person later died from their injuries.

“VIIMCU has been notified and is now investigating. While we are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, police believe this was an isolated incident, one person is in custody and there is no ongoing risk to the general public,” BC RCMP Media Relations Officer Sgt. Chris Manseau said in a release.

RCMP says the BC Coroners Service is also investigating.

No further information has been released about the victim or the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VIIMCU information line at 250-380-6211.
