Nanaimo RCMP said they are investigating after a homeowner in a rural area south of Nanaimo found an injured man tied up on his property early Thursday morning.

Police were called to the property for a reported abduction and an assault at around 2 a.m. The homeowner called 911 after he found a man tied up on his property with injuries consistent with having been assaulted.

The 25-year-old injured man was taken to hospital by a Nanaimo RCMP officer and was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. The man told police that he was abducted and he had stabbed one of his assailants. The injured man was admitted to hospital where he is receiving more treatment.

Then at around 3 a.m., 30 minutes after the injured man was admitted to the hospital, a 30-year-old man arrived at the emergency ward with a stab wound on his upper body. Police said the 30-year-old man was treated for a significant but non-life threatening injury. Officers tried to find out how he was injured but the man was not willing to co-operate.

The 30-year-old man was taken into police custody after he was released from hospital.

“Investigators are attempting to connect the two incidents, however, at this time the investigation remains in the preliminary stages”, Const. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP said in a release.

If anyone has information on either of these two incidents, they are asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
