Police are investigating after an Esquimalt resident came across someone that appeared to be in the process of breaking and entering into their home Wednesday morning.
Just after 1 a.m., Esquimalt division officers were called to the 1200-block of Colville Road for a report of a prowler.
The resident reported an air conditioner was moved out of their window and flashlight shone into the home as they walked into a room.
VicPD says the suspect fled and officers flooded the area.
A VicPD K9 team tracked a potential suspect through a neighbourhood in the direction of Lockley Street and officers discovered a number of sheds and backyards in the area had been accessed.
The suspect was not located.
