Port Alice RCMP say a Ford Ranger pickup truck was attempting to splash construction workers by driving through mud puddles.

Law enforcement in Port Alice is reminding drivers not to speed in construction zones after an alleged incident involving a pickup truck.

The reminder comes after Port Alice RCMP say they received reports from construction workers about a “dangerous” speeder driving along Marine Drive, near the old Neucel Mill building area on July 9.

According to a press release by the Port Alice RCMP, construction crews were working at a site near the building when a man in a black Ford Ranger pickup truck drove by the workers at around 80 kilometres an hour and was “purposely trying hit mud puddles” in an effort to get the workers wet.

Port Alice RCMP say they are investigating the matter and will also be patrols in the area as a result of the alleged incident.

“The Port Alice RCMP are requesting that public respect the speed limits posted in the area. The speed limits have been enacted in order to ensure the safety of everybody working as well as motorists on the road,” Const. Rebekah Draht said in a press release.

The minimum ticket for speeding in a construction zone is $196 plus demerit points.
