Pedestrian taken to hospital after being struck by vehicle in Langford

A pedestrian was hit at the 800 block of Kelly Road in Langford on Friday morning;

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle crossing the street in Langford.

The incident occurred Friday morning at the 800 block of Kelly Road.

Police said a female pedestrian was walking south on Jacklin Road and was struck by a vehicle going north and doing a left turn on Jacklin Road.

Police arrived on scene and shutdown the intersection resulting in traffic delays as they investigated the incident. According to authorities, the pedestrian sustained an injury to her hand and was taken to hospital.

Corporal Heinz Krauss, who was on scene following the incident, said “the lady had some significant injuries, but at present time are not believed to be life-threatening.”

West Shore RCMP said that the driver of the pickup truck was a female as well and so far she has been cooperative with officers in regards to the incident.

An investigation is currently ongoing as police look to further understand the situation.

The intersection has since been re-opened and traffic is moving normally.
