Pedestrian struck in downtown Victoria dies; police searching for surveillance video

A pedestrian has died in hospital after being struck by a vehicle at a downtown Victoria intersection on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

Investigators are renewing their plea for surveillance video of a woman being struck by a vehicle after the victim died in hospital.

The collision occurred before 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 18 at the intersection of Blanshard and View streets.

The woman was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since died, police confirmed Wednesday.

“Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time,” police said in a news release.

At the time, police said a truck was making a right turn onto Blanshard when it struck the woman in the crosswalk.

Investigators noted there was no damage to the truck.

Police are still looking to acquire video footage from surveillance cameras in the area in order to determine the facts and sequence of the collision.

Investigators are also seeking any dashcam footage or possible witnesses who were in the vicinity around 10 a.m.
