Two people have been arrested following a police search at a Parksville residence that uncovered a firearm, drugs and some stolen goods.

Early Wednesday morning, Mounties from Oceanside’s General Investigation Section and officers from the Emergency Response Team carried out a search in the 400 block of Pioneer Crescent in Parksville. Police say the original warrant was authorized to search for drugs and weapons, but stolen property was also recovered during the investigation.

One of the two people arrested had several outstanding arrest warrants for obstruction and prohibited driving. Said person has been released, and will appear in court at a later date.

RCMP would not confirm any specific details like the type of drugs that were seized or their quantities when asked by CHEK News. Mounties add that they currently can’t recommend any charges to Crown as evidence from the search is still undergoing analysis from both laboratory and forensic services.

“As residents would have noticed a large and sustained police presence in the area, we wanted to provide as much information about our activities as possible to keep the public informed,” Sgt. Shane Worth of the Oceanside RCMP said in a press release.
