Nanaimo RCMP are trying to find the owner of a bolt-action rifle that was found in some bushes on Jingle Pot Road.
The Savage Model 11 Bolt-Action rifle was discovered near the end of February. Police said it was then turned into the detachment.
According to police, the rifle has a trigger lock and an attached shoulder sling. Police also said that based on where the rifle was found, it appears someone may have intentionally placed it there, leading investigators to believe it was stolen.
No reports have been filed with the Nanaimo RCMP regarding a theft of a rifle matching the description.
Anyone who believes they are the owner of the rifle is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. Anyone with information on where the rifle originated from and wants to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
