Over 2,000 Courtenay hydro customers left in the dark Sunday after tree hits wires

BC Hydro says 2,300 customers near Courtenay were without power after a tree came down across some wires Sunday morning.

The incident took place around 10:00 a.m. Sunday and crews have restored most of the power, 730 in the area are still in the dark.

The impacted areas were south of Central Road and North, East and West of the Island Highway.
