As part of a program to get public input that helps to shape the future of Swartz Bay, B.C. Ferries has launched its online engagement platform.

The online engagement runs from now until June 8 for feedback that will be collected to determine options on terminal redevelopment.

In May, the corporation announced it was looking for a response from the community on what collective needs are necessary for improvements at Swartz Bay.

Input will be accepted until the end of summer 2018, and a report summarizing the findings will be posted online for viewing.

B.C. Ferries says the goal is to create a more efficient and enjoyable experience for customers as well as move people and goods with greater ease.

The company says terminal redevelopment will take place over several years and the online engagement is the first of several phases related to the terminal redevelopment process.

A new terminal is scheduled to begin in 2021.

This engagement with the community is part of a master plan developed in 2004.

BC Ferries says since then they have upgraded ticket booths, traffic flow and made significant berth modifications.
