A 31-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Salt Spring Saturday.

RCMP say the accident was in the 200-block of Long Harbour Road and that both vehicles had three occupants. The woman was airlifted to a larger area hospital.

Salt Spring Fire Rescue says they responded to the serious accident around 12:30 p.m.

The other occupants were later released from hospital. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The crash took place and blocked the road, which connects to B.C. Ferries’ Long Harbour Terminal. As a result, the Salish Eagle diverted to the Fulford Harbour terminal further south on the Island.

The road eventually re-opened and the Salish Eagle went back to the Long Harbour Terminal to get traffic heading to Tsawwassen, resulting in a 37-minute delay.
