One person was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a car was rear-ended Wednesday morning on the Trans-Canada Highway in Mill Bay.

The incident happened just after 6 a.m. near Frayne Road when a northbound white Volkswagen was hit from behind by a pickup truck, causing major damage to the car.

Mill Bay Deputy Fire Chief Dean Kwasny says the driver of the Volkswagen was taken to hospital, while the pickup driver was shaken, but had no injuries.

Traffic was down to single-lane traffic but is open on the highway.

The crash is under investigation.
