Traffic is shown in northbound lanes of the Pat Bay Highway following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
A two-car crash that sent one person to hospital closed part of the Patricia Bay Highway in Sidney Wednesday morning.

As of 10:30 a.m., DriveBC had lifted the warning and marked the incident as cleared.

“It was a two-vehicle collision,” said Cpl. Reid Miller with Sidney RCMP. “One occupant is injured and has gone to the hospital. The road was shut down for an hour, and it’s back open now.”

The person was said to be in stable condition as they were transported to hospital, according to BC Emergency Health Services.

DriveBC reported the incident just after 9:30 a.m. on Highway 17 between McTavish Road (Exit 26) and Beacon Avenue (Exit 28).

Earlier, the crash had closed the road entirely and a detour was in effect around the area — however, by 10 a.m., a single northbound lane had reopened.

The highway fully reopened to northbound traffic as of 10:24 a.m., according to DriveBC.
