One person is in hospital following an assault in downtown Victoria, police say.
According to the Victoria Police, an unknown suspect assaulted an individual with a weapon in Bastion Square sometime between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The assault, which police say was a targeted incident, took place in the walkway between Government and Langley streets.
Police say the victim suffered potentially life-threatening injuries from the assault and was transported to hospital — which is where investigators say they first learned of the incident.
The victim’s injuries are now considered non-life-threatening.
