Victoria police have arrested one suspect and continue to look for another in connection with a home invasion, vehicle theft and car fire incident last month.

The person arrested has been released on several conditions and police are asking for any witnesses to come forward in their investigation.

On Feb. 6, before 9 a.m., officers responded to a call of a home invasion on Topaz Avenue.

The two residents had suffered non-life threatening injuries and the suspects had already fled the scene when police arrived.

At 10:20 a.m., authorities were then called to the 2900-block of Washington Avenue for a report of a car fire.

A blue Volkswagen Jetta with reflective stickers on the bumper had been stolen as early as 11 p.m. on February 3 and police believed it was used as a getaway car in the home invasion and then burned.

Major Crime Detective Division and Forensic Identification Unit investigators were able to identify the suspects and made an arrest.

Authorities are asking anyone who saw either incident or witnessed the car driving erratically in the area of Blanshard and Finlayson streets between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m on Feb. 6 to call police or Crime Stoppers.
