A description of a vehicle Victoria police were searching for in a Tuesday morning robbery matches the look of a car that was on fire in a parking lot.

At around 9 a.m., officers were investigating a robbery and home invasion in the 1300-block of Topaz Avenue. Two residents suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the suspects “fled in a blue VW Jetta with ‘reflective’ tape on the bumper.”

At 10:20 a.m., police helped Victoria firefighters battle a car fire near Gorge Road and Washington Avenue. The car matched the description of the suspect vehicle from the robbery incident. Police said it is too early to say if it is related to the home invasion.

The Major Crime Detective Division and Forensic Identification Unit are investigating and said it’s too early to say if there is any risk to the public. Police are asking for witnesses who saw the blue Volkswagen Jetta driving erratically on Finlayson Avenue or in the area of Blanshard and Finlayson streets between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m to call them at 250-995-7654 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
They would also like anyone who saw the Volkswagen Jetta between 11 p.m. on Feb. 3 and 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 6 to contact them. Police have provided a photo of the vehicle, which as a reflective sticker on the rear bumper.
