Seizing illegal drugs is a part of the daily grind for Oceanside RCMP officers, but police say what they’re seeing as of late is alarming.
Oceanside RCMP is warning the public of a growing trend of illegal drugs branded like candy.
The drugs officers are finding are typically cannabis products resembling candy or packaged in candy-like wrappers.
Several recent seizures have seen the Oceanside RCMP find cannabis products in the shape of gummy bears and chocolates.
The items typically aren’t clearly marked as containing cannabis and police are worried they could be attractive to unsuspecting children.
If they are accidentally ingested, Oceanside RCMP is worried the products would make young adults extremely sick.
Oceanside RCMP is advising parents to have discussions with their children about how to inspect packaging and to not to accept candy from people they don’t know.
