The Municipality of North Cowichan has moved to Stage 3 water restrictions.

Under Stage 3, sprinkling with conventional irrigation systems and sprinklers is not permitted. Hand watering of lawns, and the filling of pools and hot tubs is also not allowed.

Hand watering or micro-drip irrigation of vegetable gardens and fruit trees is permitted during Stage 3 for a maximum of two hours per day and a maximum of one hour per day for ornamental trees, shrubs, and flower gardens.

The move, which came into effect on Sept. 23, comes after the B.C. government increased the drought rating to Level 4 for East Vancouver Island.
