A man was arrested after he allegedly exposed himself and then followed a woman in Victoria’s Fernwood neighbourhood over the weekend.

According to the Victoria Police Department, a man approached a woman, talked to her and then exposed himself to her at around 3 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 25) at the intersection of Pandora Avenue and Chambers Street.

Police say after the man exposed himself, the woman left but was followed by the man for approximately four blocks before she was able to get away safely.

Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect at a nearby park without incident.

Victoria Police say the man, whose name was not released, was violating conditions stemming from a conviction for a previous sexual offence and believe there may be other victims.

“Based on the suspect’s previous history, officers are concerned that there may be other victims who have not yet come forward,” Victoria Police said in a statement, adding. “Additionally, officers are aware that there were several people in the area and there may be multiple witnesses who have yet to contact police.”

Anyone who may have had a similar encounter on Sunday, Sept. 25, or has information about this incident is asked to contact the Victoria Police Department at 250-995-7654 extension 1.
