No tsunami expected after 6.0-magnitude earthquake in Alaska

A tsunami is not expected following a 6.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Amatignak Island in Alaska Saturday.

The United States Geological Survey says the quake hit at 10:47 a.m. at a depth of 35 kilometres.

The National Weather Service’s National Tsunami Warning Center says a tsunami is not expected for Alaska, B.C., Washington, Oregon and California.

The earthquake occurred 68 kilometres south-east of the Island, part of the Aleutian Islands.

No damage has been reported. The USGS says there is a low likelihood of casualties and damage.
