The boat was reported around 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

Central Saanich Police say no one was injured after a boat fell off its trailer and blocked a road on Thursday morning.

Central Saanich Police Staff Sgt. Nigel Smallworld says the crash was reported around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Central Saanich Road and Mount Newton Cross Road.

Smallworld says officers arrived at the scene soon after and found the owner of the boat was still at the scene.

Officers helped direct drivers away from the boat, and helped the owner put it back onto their trailer.

“It was a pretty simple,” said Smallworld. “It was a slight delay for a short period of time, but nobody else was involved.”

Smallworld says the driver was let go with a warning, though he could have been served a ticket for transporting an insecure load.

“It would’ve been different if it had caused an accident or if there was an unfortunate pedestrian in the area, but it wasn’t anything disastrous,” he said. “It kind of slipped, not some sort of catastrophic fall of the trailer, and hence the warning.”
