The New Year’s Day Levée at Government House has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing renovations.

It’s an annual tradition, celebrated by vice-regal houses throughout Canada, where the Government House opens its doors to friends and neighbours to ring in the new year with light refreshment and entertainment.

Instead of its traditional levée on Jan. 1, 2021, the Government House is inviting everyone who has attended the event in the past to share their favourite photos.

A panel will select a winner, who will receive a catered picnic lunch for two on the Government House grounds.

Those interested can submit their photos and memories until January 4 at [email protected].

A winner will be announced on the Lieutenant Governor’s blog on January 18.
