A new Walmart Supercentre will soon be opening its doors to the public at Hillside Shopping Centre in Victoria.
Construction is nearing completion and the store is slated to open on June 16.
The new Supercentre is slightly smaller than the Uptown location in Saanich, measuring approximately 139,000 square feet — compared to the Uptown location which measures 221,000 square feet.
Walmart says that the new location will employ approximately 350 people once open.
The new Walmart will be moving into the former location of Sears, which shut its doors back in 2018 after it had been in operation at Hillside since 1962.
Before a Walmart was confirmed for the Hillside location, speculation was that other big-name retailers such as Nordstroms or Bass Pro Shops could have been an option.
